Jacob’s First Vacation!
Jake is at the beach and loving it! We are down in Siesta Key, Florida with our friends the Warners for a week. Jacob had his first plane ride, first experience with sand and the ocean and first taste of Chocolate Iced Cream all in the last 24 hours. He is one happy guy! Here are some pictures, more to come as well as video!
Swimming With Mommy!
Jacob and Kristen took a swim class yesterday at the Mercy Health Complex. Jake was not too fond of the water at first, and when the instructor held him, he kind of erupted in tears until he got back to mommy. Once he realized that they had toys in the pool though, he was good to go! By the end of the class he was really enjoying the water and the games. You can see from the pictures that Kristen had absolutely no fun.
Nugget Homecoming
We’re Home! Jacob and Kristen were discharged from the hospital this morning after a few final tests. He is eating well (and all the time!) and had enough output (diapers) for the docs to feel ok that he goes home. We had an amazing experience at Good Sam, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a hospital for maternity services. The staff and facilities are really top notch.
Jake loved the car ride home, sleeping the whole way. (Max, I see now why you took Jack on car rides late at night!) When we arrived home, we had such a wonderful surprise! Katherine, Anna, Charlie, Andy and Cosmo decorated the whole front of our house… it was awesome! They actually read my mind, as I was thinking we should have put a balloon out at the house to let the neighbors know we had the baby. They would always ask for updates when they saw us in the weeks leading up to the birth… so the wonderful Kuertz and Philpott families took care of that for us. Thanks so much guys, you really made Jacob’s homecoming so special!!!
He is settling in nicely, still not sleeping with any regularity, but we hope that will come next. HUGE thank you to our parents for coming over and letting us get a little shut eye while they watched Jacob. We love you guys!

Day Two
Jacob is officially 24 hours old now, and he is learning new things all the time. One of the things that he is not great at yet is sleeping for long periods. It has felt like one long day to us here at the hospital, but he makes it worth it! I must say, no one told us that there would be little sleep involved with this parenting thing! hahaha…
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and the messages both here and on Facebook. We feel so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing family and friends. Jacob is blessed to have you all!

JACOB LAWRENCE ANNETT!!!
Jacob has arrived! Kristen woke up this morning at about 1:00 am with contractions and we called the doctor around 2 am when they were close to 5 minutes apart and strengthening. She was admitted and began a strong labor through the early morning. Her new best friend with the Epidural came soon thereafter and she was on her way. Jacob was born at 11:10 am on Wednesday May 26, 2010! He weighed 7lbs 4oz and measured 19.5 inches.
He has spent most of the day today meeting his family, taking his first bath, having exams and sleeping. (daddy says AMEN!) His test scores are great and he is a healthy, happy baby boy.
Jacob is blessed to share the same birthday as his Great-Grandmother, Lillian Johnson and his cousin Margy Gruber! May 26 is really a special day! Jacob posed for some pics for you and says he looks forward to meeting you all very soon!

39 Weeks!
We are almost there! Nugget could come any day now, so the excitement level is high in the Annett household(s). I have been told by multiple people that we should snap some shots of Kristen and Nugget before she delivers, so here they are.
Max says… Belly?

4D Ultrasound!
Went out to Mirror Imaging Ultrasound today to have a 4D ultrasound done of Jacob. He is so far down, and pressed against Kristen’s stomach that it was hard to get a good shot of him. We managed to get a few that were recognizable. The tech commented on his strong nose and cheeks, and that he was “definitely a boy”!
First Ultrasound
We had the first ultrasound at the doc visit today. It was pretty wild to see the baby for the first time. There was a lot of time spent doing measurements of the various parts to be sure things were progressing well. I must say, it is impressive that the technician was able to identify what she did… it looked like a hazy mystery to us for a long time. Then, all of a sudden, she got to the face and BAM… there was the baby! We got some really great shots of the face, hands and feet. After about 45 minutes, the tech finally told us… we are having a baby boy!
This took us both by surprise. Our families were so sure that it was a girl (except my dad) that we had kind of accepted that thought too… even having a girl name all picked out. Needless to say, we were thrilled and have started the process of picking boy names.
After the visit, we drove back to my parents house where both sets of parents and grandparents were waiting to hear the news. Being Kristen’s birthday today, it was a wonderful way to celebrate!
